Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
At Writing Pad, your privacy is fundamental to our software design. We operate under a strict Zero Server Storage philosophy for user content.
1. Where Your Notes Are Stored
Your notes exist exclusively on your personal device within your web browser's localStorage database under the key skeu-notepad-v1. We do not operate a remote database, user accounts, or cloud synchronization servers for your private drafts.
2. Link Sharing & Compression
When you click Share:
- Your note's title and body are compressed using native browser streams (
CompressionStream("deflate-raw")) and converted into a URL hash fragment (e.g.#n=z...). - By standard web architecture, hash fragments are handled exclusively by your browser and are never transmitted to web hosting servers during page requests.
- To provide a clean, short link, the URL is submitted to a TinyURL shortening proxy. Note that shortened URLs pass through the shortening provider to generate the short link. If you prefer absolute secrecy, avoid using the shortener.
3. Exporting Notes
When you download notes as PDF, Markdown (.md), or Text (.txt), the files are compiled entirely within your local browser memory using JavaScript and client-side Blob generation. Nothing is processed or stored on remote servers.
4. Cookies and Tracking
Writing Pad uses zero tracking cookies, zero analytics trackers, and zero third-party advertising pixels. We only store your functional preferences (such as light/dark theme and typewriter font toggle) in your browser's local storage.
5. External Services
Writing Pad connects to standard CDN providers to deliver fonts and libraries: Google Fonts for typography and cdnjs for PDF document generation.
6. Contact & Questions
